One person has died with coronavirus in Wales, after two weeks of no deaths being recorded, new figures show.

Since the start of the pandemic, 5,571 people have died with Covid-19, according to Public Health Wales data.

It comes as Wales’ case rate continues to rise, climbing to 12.4 per 100,000 people, up from 11.2 on Wednesday.

Conwy county, where a cluster of the Delta variant has been confirmed, has the highest case rate in Wales.

However, the case rates have fallen in the county, from 30.7 per 100,000 on Wednesday to 29.

Swansea – where a cluster has been linked to a city centre pub – is the next highest on 23.1. Newport and Carmarthenshire have also crept up slightly due to local clusters.
